I have spent time and research looking into building and porting android roms and until just recently it was something I couldn’t do. I am happy to announce that late lastnight I was able build a stable port the Android 2.0.1 Rom to the Sprint HTC Hero.
This rom is stable but there are still some hardware issues that need to be worked out. To be able to rectify that we are patiently still waiting for a official kernel source from HTC for this hardware and version of android.
Until this is released the bright people over at XDA have hacked most of the hardware to work. All gratz should go to them for a job well done.
I have taken what they had and applied it to the Android 2.0.1 rom. For even more fun I have even put in the Nexus One boot animation.
Update: Replaced AOSP with Android since what I ported from wasn’t AOSP like I originally thought.
